What Will Be Left

What you possess in the world will be found at the day of your death to belong to someone else, but what you are will be yours forever.

I got that from a tweet this morning, and it really provoked me to thought, you know the old saying you can’t take it with you is true. As a lost man I used to say he who dies with the most toys still dies and that is very true. We are not defined by what we own or how much money we make we are defined by who we are and what we do with what we have.

The Bible says in Proverbs Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked.

We often tend to look at the people of the world with all their toys and think man that person looks really happy. I think of the “Stars” that so many people look up to and it breaks my heart. Look at Elvis or more recently Michael Jackson those two men had or could have anything they wanted and they were miserable both men died of a drug overdose, why they were not happy. Happiness cannot be bought sure we will enjoy new toys for a while but if our lives and our happiness is based on what we have we will be no better off in the end the Michael Jackson or Elvis. You see both men are dead and at some point they will stand before God either at the Great White Thrown of Judgment or at the Judgment Seat of Christ and they will give an account for who they were as a person not what they had as possessions. You will not be buying you way out of that court case. So Don’t envy sinners and don’t feel that you are inadequate of you don’t drive a new car or own a boat or other cool toys remember.

The Bible says “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:  But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (Matt 6:19-21).

Be who God wants YOU to be and do what God wants YOU to do and some day you will have your “toys” and no one will ever be able to take them away.
